Deep and Wide Conference

I am considering going to the Deep and Wide event to be held at Stony Brook in NY on Nov 10-12.

This effort by the denomination sounds like exactly what my interests are.  But I was wondering before I go if others are looking at this as a major event?

Our situation in Bend is that we are doing a discernment process using the new Growing New Churches process introduced at GA.  This might lead to a submission for grant funds from the  local Presbytery and National offices.  We would like to continue to sanity check our efforts, make contacts to get feedback on what we are doing, and share ideas with others doing, or thinking about, similar things.  Our focus is on the 21 to 35 year old community, mostly singles, in the Central Oregon area that are not interested in anything close to a traditional church.  So, who else is going or thinking about going?

  1. I’ll be there. Not sure about the agenda since I’ve not seen one as of yet.

  2. Not able to attend conference but am curious to hear more about how the discernment process goes, as you move through it. Hope you’ll write more about that.

  3. I’ll be there as well. I figure it can’t hurt to gather a bunch of folks together and try to think a little bit outside of the box. I REALLY do think the time is ripe for some great things to be explored and even tried. See you all then.

  4. I’ll be there, I think.

  5. Won’t be able to attend but am encouraged by the conversation. My only fear is that we have a hard time backing up all our conversations with action. Hopefully, this will result in some concrete calls to action on behalf of our congregations. I look forward to hearing some good stuff!
