Hello, my name is Shawn, and I’m a ?
Ok, I’ve heard of the emerging church, and I’ve heard of the emergent church. I’ve even heard of churches merging into each other and maybe merging into traffic. But beyond a Google here and a Wiki there, I’m pretty new and clueless to the whole emerg* church thing.
That being said, I’m pretty sure I’m Presbymergent, maybe.
I’m an Associate Pastor at a wonderful church. Strong education program for all ages, great sense of social justice, my wife (the other AP at the church) and I love the group of young adults that are very active and involved in the church. Like I said, it is a wonderful church.
But then there’s worship…
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fine worship service as far as your typical worship service goes, and I think that’s the problem. I think the “typical” worship service has gone as far as it can go for me.
So, here I am. Lurking and reading your articles, comments, resources and blogs. Trying to figure out if I am Presbymergent, and if so, what the blazes do I do now?!?!

Good for you Shawn - as much as I love Presbyterian worship I have to admit that that has been a nagging suspicion of mine as well. It’s great, but … Where do we go from here? There have been some great ideas and postings here about general directions, but it is tough to find your way. I appreciate the comments people have made about helping a church find it’s own culture, its own direction - but what are some good ways to do that?
